In the Dorset Food Hall...

There is plenty to keep the mouth of every gourmet enthusiast watering at this year’s Dorset County Show! In line with the show’s ethos of showcasing the county’s food talent, the Dorset Food Hall is full to the brim with some of Dorset’s finest food producers, from muffins and bespoke cakes from ‘Fancy that Cakes’ to 'From Dorset With Love’s’ delicious local jellies and chutneys to 'Ford Farm's' award winning PDO cheddars made on the Jurassic coast. Local chefs will also be performing cookery demonstrations in the Live Demo Kitchen. Look out for Brett Sutton, the chef from the highly acclaimed Eastbury Hotel and Chef Karl Bashford from the Three Horseshoes in Powerstock who will be demonstrating honest seasonal British food, using foraged produce and vegetables from his garden. There will be twelve demos in all spread across the two days of the show.

The Main food Hall showcases both regional south west and international food including olives, breads, wine and cooking sauces. With over 60 stands across both Food Halls, you’re sure to find something to tempt your tastebuds!

Well Fancy That!

Focus on Fancy That Cakes

Fancy That Cakes is a Dorset business offering home-made cakes from cup cakes through to intricately sculpted, award-winning 3d celebration cakes.

Heather Upham founder of ‘Fancy That Cakes’ will be exhibiting in the Dorset Food Hall for the second year running. ‘Last year was my first year and I was bowled over by the amount of visitors to the show. Demand was so great that I sold out of cakes by 3pm on the first day! This year, I’m determined not to be caught out so I will be busy baking the week before to make sure I can satisfy demand. I’m just perfecting three new cupcake flavours to bring along too – Bubblegum, Cola and Jaffa Orange’

The Dorset County Show has really helped put Heather’s business on the Dorset map and this autumn she plans to open the doors to her first shop in Beaminster. For further information about Heather’s cakes and details of her new shop visit

Did you know that for every £10 spent on food in a supermarket, £14 flows into the vicinity. This is in contrast with £10 spent in local shops offering locally produced food, where £25 flows in the area? (Source: Direct from Dorset)
